Project Management

Future Teacher Expo

The Center for Educator Preparation, housed in the School of Education at Colorado State University, hosted the second annual Future Teacher Expo during the fall 2019 semester. This event was intended to give high school and transfer students the opportunity to visit campus, explore teaching as a career, and learn more about Colorado State University.

Planning Stage

During planning stage, I developed a variety of collateral, including:

  • Save-the-Date HTML email
  • Save-the-Date flyer – for print and interactive pdf
  • Facebook event with Save-the-Date posts

Preparation Stage

Moving into the preparation stage, I developed promotional collateral to encourage registration and sharing online. These items include:

I also managed the ordering of a variety of swag items for attendees, including:

  • T-shirts
  • Lip balm
  • Ballpoint pens

Ordering swag required:

  • Searching for items
  • Designing graphics for the items and making adjustments as necessary
  • Placing the orders and being responsive to vendor requests throughout the process to avoid delays
  • Delivery to the event

Day of the Event

For the day of the event, I created a variety of material designed to help participants feel welcomed and aware of the day’s schedule. These materials include:

  • Programs with the schedule, workshop details, maps, and more. I managed the printing of these as well.
  • Question cards for a student panel, for which I also managed printing.
  • Participant, chaperone, and volunteer name tags, segmented into various groups – this element required incorporating multiple symbols and colors as quick and easy signals relating to the schedule. I managed the printing of these.
  • Two new, six-foot retractable banners and one new tabletop retractable banner designed and printed.

Additionally, I coordinated audio-visual elements for the day-of, including:

  • Scheduling photographers and videographers to capture the event
  • Production for a video featuring current CEP students sharing why they were and are inspired to teach – the video was shown during the event

Finally, I offered day-of support and social media coverage.

TechHire Nebraska

TechHire Nebraska is a nationwide, multi-sector White House initiative designed to provide a large pool of local, motivated and diverse candidates, including low-income and underserved Americans such as women, minorities, and veterans. In Buffalo County, Nebraska, the TechHire program recruits, assesses, trains, and employs candidates in core technical software services: Quality Assurance, Tech Support, Database Administration, and Automation Testing.

In 2015, I managed the development of a video project as part of my role with Xpanxion, a TechHire partner. The project, an overview of the first phase of Xpanxion’s inaugural TechHire cohort, included managing video interviews and gathering of b-roll footage, as well as compiling and editing the video – incorporating clips, text, logos, and background music – into its final, distributable form.
